CCBOE Child Nutrition Program (CNP) has begun to offer plastic milk chug bottles district-wide beginning January 2016. They will replace the original paper milk cartons in all flavors & types with the exception of vanilla milk, which is only available in the paper carton. The switch, which was BOE approved in December, was made based on CNP taste tests & research findings of a reported 17-30% increase in both milk sales and student consumption in surrounding school districts who switched.
The milk chugs also enforce higher food safety measures by being a better product insulator & temperature regulator with little to no leaking. Please note the milk chugs cost slightly more than the paper cartons & are 35 cents per chug for the remainder of the school year if purchased as a solo item or as extra milk from the cafeteria.
